Watercooling system

The water-cooling system within a PC is becoming more frequent within recent years and it seems to be replacing the traditional air-cooling system method that was originally used. First off, what is a water-cooling system? A water-cooling system is a system attached to the CPU of a computer which uses water to cool it down through a heat exchanger. This system is seemed more common with gaming PC’s which often require a large amount of work from the CPU which often overheats it.

The water-cooling system still uses fans which could be called radiators. Here is how the cooling mechanism works: the water near by the CPU heats up in which it takes the excess heat and moves it to the radiator in which it is cooled. Meanwhile new cool water is placed near the CPU ensuring that the CPU has a source of cool water at constant time.

The reason why manufacturers are turning towards this new method of cooling is because water has a higher heat capacity than air which allows it to take in more heat from the CPU at a larger duration of time. The difference is quite noticeable as it is around four times larger in heat capacity showing just how efficient it is compared to the original fan and air method.

Although there are some drawbacks to this type of method one notable disadvantage is that the cost is oftentimes much more expensive than a traditional air method. Also, its considerably more difficult to maintain and implement than just attaching and screwing a fan onto a PC as it requires a knowledgeable expert in electronics. Also running a water-cooling system brings along the risks of leakage if the water were to spill then it could damage other parts of the PC which would lead to complications. Even so it is much quieter and helps cool down specific components such as the PC with the addition of needing less space than an air-cooling method to do so.

Overall, the decision on if you should get a water-cooling method or air-cooling method ultimately depends on the user. If the user is into gaming very often and does not like the loud noise that the air-cooling method produces then a water-cooling system may perhaps be the better choice, otherwise a traditional air-cooling system should be fit for everyday use.
